Who we are

Karo is a health data management company set up in 2009, but building on more than a decade of primary and community health IT experience prior to that.  Our extensive IT expertise and knowledge of the health sector enable us to understand our clients, your needs and the ways you work in your communities.

Susan Iversen

Susan IversenSusan has 25 years experience working on database design, development and implementation, as well as a Bachelor of Engineering and university papers in computer science.  Having been a practice manager at Newtown Union Health Service, Susan found herself gravitating towards developing IT systems for primary and community health providers.

Susan was part of the team that set up CG Computing (CGC) in 1998 to provide IT solutions for community, union and Maori organisations.  As PHOs came on the scene in the early 2000s, the need for aggregating patient registers for funding submission, saw the development of Monitor as a cost effective tool for managing registers.

Out of those roots, grew Karo, established in 2009.  Karo operates Monitor, which is now NZ's premier register management tool, with more than half the country's population in 21 PHOs, having their records processed for funding through Monitor each quarter.
