Smoking

This spreadsheet is a report of the SLM "Better help for smokers to quit" indicator. Depending on when it is run it is either afinal report or a progress report.It includes lists of patients who have not had their smoking status recorded and current or recently quit smokers who have not been given brief advice. Summary

This shown through a variety of figures each detailed below:

  • Patients Aged 15-75 - Total number of patients aged 15 to 17 on the last day of the quarter that are enrolled in NES in your practice - this is the age group that the indicator relates to.
  • Smoking Status Ever Recorded - Total number of patients enrolled in NES in your practice who have their smoking status recorded
  • Current Smokers - Total number of patients enrolled in NES in your practice whose most recent smoking status is as a smoker
  • Current Smokers or Recent Quit - Total number of patients enrolled in NES in your practice who are marked as Current Smokers or Recently Quit. Recently Quit includes all patients who have been current smokers in the last 15 months. This forms our denominator for Brief Advice
  • Brief Advice -Total number of patients enrolled in NES in your practice who are marked as Current Smokers or Recently Quit who have been given Brief Advice
  • Cessation Support - Total number of patients enrolled in NES in your practice who are marked as Current Smokers or Recently Quit who have been given Cessation Support
  • Smoking Status Ever Recorded % - The percentage of relevant patients enrolled in your practice who have their smoking status recorded
  • Brief Advice % - The percentage of the total number of patients enrolled in NES in your practice who are marked as Current Smokers or Recently Quit who have been given Brief Advice
  • Number need to do meet MoH - This is the number of qualified patients who require Brief Advice to hit the MoH target of 90%

Patients whose smoking status has not been recorded

This is a list of patients, who will be age 15 or over at the end of the quarter, who are currently enrolled in NES at the practice who didn't have their their smoking status recorded when the last clinical export was done. This is organised by the Date Last Visit which is the Date the patient last visited. The page has several filters that can be used for targeting specific quintile, ethnicity, genders or age groups or any combinations.

Patients who are current or recently quit smokers who have not been given brief advice

This is a list of patients who are currently enrolled in NES at the practice who are recorded at the PHO (i.e., by Karo) as current smokers or recently quit who are not recorded as having been given brief advice. This is organised by the Date Last Visit which is the Date the patient last visited. The page has several filters that can be used for targeting specific Quintiles, Ethnicities, Genders or Age Groups or any combinations. Note sometime patients who have had an incorrect smoking status entered in the past may appear on this list if that is the case simply record a brief advice given and note that a status of current smoker had been entered incorrectly.

  • ZPSC10 - Referral to smoking cessation support
  • ZPSC20 - Prescribed smoking cessation medication
  • ZPS30 - Provided smoking cessation behaviour support
  • ZPSC90 - Refused smoking cessation support
